KERALA--Land of Rejuvenation
Man is always inquisitive and in incessant search of new knowledge, experience and sights. Perhaps this stimulus is fuelling leisure travel, which is the backbone of tourism across the world. But choosing the right location and getting the right returns for the money spent, is a daunting task. In that respect, Kerala, the Indian state in the southern tip separated by sea from Sri Lanka is scoring high over all other places.
For tourists-the high spenders as well as budget travelers, Kerala is a heaven. Over the years, Kerala has climbed the popularity charts and is now the top 5 exotic locations in the world, according to a survey by National Geographic Channel.
Travelling to Kerala during August-May is perfect. Its USP is REJUVENATION to the soul and body. A big number of travellers concede that what they experienced in Kerala had been more than sight seeing. It was an experience in over haul; in self discovery and of self healing.
The tourists enjoy the Ayurvedic (herbal) massages and the salubrious climate where temperatures never cross 35 degree Celsius. The rejuvenation of the body through ayurvedic massaging through traditional methods; excellent spicy food and exotic pleasures of travel in house boats through its backwaters devouring its serenity, greenery and calm has no parallel.
One tourist even confided to me that he had the best ever sex in a houseboat and its fond memory.
Kerala's famed hill stations Thekkady, Munnar, Ponmudi and beaches of Kovalam, Varkala and Beypore will chill your senses. It is at Kumarokom, the mother of all opportunities to unwind-the famed house boats for less than 100 dollars. Kerala's three international airports are in capital Trivandrum, harbour city Cochin and Calicut, who offer excellent connectivity to all the major tourism destinations.
Though the planners in Kerala are trying to ape and recreate a Dubai or Singapore in its port city of Cochin, it is the charm of rural kerala-its hills, lakes, greenery and life-renewing ayurveda that is beckoning the world to it.
In Kerala, the Nature is always in ecstasy.
